Is no stars, or negative an option?
I decided to use this shop because they're close to our home. I went in for a pre-buy inspection. No pricing was mentioned, and I'd had another one done by Midas in the past for around $40.00 and was expecting somewhere close to the same.
My wife went in to pick the car up, and called to tell me that they we're charging us $211.00...
I told her to let me handle it, and Walt gave some long BS story about checking the engine, the ABS system, and a bunch of other stuff that we didn't even ask for.
I told him about the pre-inspections I'd done before for a lower cost, and he told me that his mechanic makes 50K per year. Hooray for him.
They also handed me a form to sign to go ahead and fix everything on the car (another $2100...)
I ended up getting a second opinion, and fixing the car for $700, so there's another bit of info for you :)
I told them what I thought of their lack of scruples, and told them it might help to post their costs up on a board so people can walk in, see them, and walk right back out.
No help here, try some honest mechanic if you can find one, or go to Midas for the $40 special.
